The young people of Artistic Noise, in collaboration with MPS Art Therapy, invite the public to participate in their mural installation, titled "Welcome to Our World." Artistic Noise is a private nonprofit that exists to bring the freedom and power of artistic practice to young people who are incarcerated, on probation or otherwise involved in the justice system.

From Artistic Noise:

"We are strong young New Yorkers surrounded by negativity. Our mural installation represents how New York City feels to us. We believe our perspective is unseen, under and misrepresented. We invite you to experience the city the way we do, as an apocalyptic concrete jungle. A place where life is hard, unclear and confusing. Where we feel like we're moving so fast we can't see where we’re going. Where it's hard to trust, yet easy to be misled and influenced in negative ways. Sometimes we feel like our heads are in outer space, we zone out. Floating away from the negativity helps us cope.

"We hope by collaborating with us you'll recognize and support our strengths. You'll see us as the artists, leaders and influencers we are. Our goal is to bring us together in positive ways that respect our differences."
