Visual Opinion, Student Magazine

The Visual Opinion(VO) was started more than 15 years ago, and currently publishes 6 issues per year.  This student-run magazine showcases student art work from all departments and covers a diverse set of visual narratives and themes; an issue can focus on one topic, abstract or real, and another issue can be purely a visual exploration.  Like most publications, it is a work in progress and reflects the changing nature of the staff, the students and the times.  Although the magazine's issues are constantly changing, it is the team's commitment to representing the students and staying focused on the SVA student voice that remains an important tenet of the publication.

You can view some of the VO's issues at http://issuu.com/visualopinion.

How to get involved

Students can apply to be freelance contributors for each issue.  Call for Entry posters are dsitributed in advance of each issue publication with information on how to apply to be a contributor.  Students can also apply to be a part of the editing staff for the magazine.  Through the staff positions, students have the opportunity to get experience working with professional clients, and in designing content and layouts for the publication.

Questions about contributing or involvement opportunities should be emailed to [email protected].  The Visual Opinion can also be reached by phone at 212.592.2280, or at the Student Engagement and Leadership office, at 340 East 24th Street, First Floor of the 24th Street Residence.
