By borrowing items from the Visual Arts Library you are agreeing to the following policies.

MacBook & power supply 3 hours 1 time (2 hrs) $10.00/hr / per part
Blu-Ray/DVD Remotes 3 hours 1 time (2 hrs) $5.00/hr/per item


Alumni


Alumni may check out equipment for use in the library by leaving their Alumni card and current Driver’s License with the Technology Assistant for the duration of their equipment usage. It is the patron’s responsibility to request their identifying documents upon return of the equipment.

Continuing Education Students


Continuing Education students may check out equipment for use in the library by leaving their Continuing Education card and current Driver’s License with the Technology Assistant for the duration of their equipment usage. It is the patron’s responsibility to request their identifying documents upon return of the equipment.

Computer Lab Questions

Contact the Technology Assistant or the Technology Manager in the Computer Lab.
Please note that the circulation desk and the technology desk close 15 minutes prior to library closing at which time there are no more checkouts.

Damaged Library Materials


Patrons who return damaged equipment will be charged a damaged item fee or replacement and processing fee based on the damage incurred. If an item is damaged, notify the Technology Assistant, Technology Manager or System Administrator immediately.

Holds

You may not put a Hold on computer equipment. 

Limitations on Library Privileges


Patrons with fines $10 and over, or with unresolved lost library materials, will not be able to:

  • check library materials out
  • register or graduate
  • get grades or transcripts
Lost Library Materials Policy


A library item is considered “Lost” after 50 days of being overdue, at which time you have two choices to clear your account:

  1. Pay the replacement fee + processing fee (see below for amounts) or
  2. Purchase the same item or a newer, unused version of the same item & pay the processing fee.

Item must be in original packaging.

*If market value of lost item exceeds above listed replacement fee, market value will be charged.
**If an item has been lost for more than 2 months, the library has the right to replace that item and bill the patron for the replacement and processing fees.


Overdue Fees


The library is not responsible for notifying borrowers of their overdue equipment. It is the patron’s responsibility to find out when an item must be returned and return that item promptly. Fines are automatically billed to your library account when materials are returned, and accrue for each time period overdue, as outlined in the above chart.

Renewing

Bring equipment to the Technology Assistant to be renewed. Items can only be renewed for in-library use as listed.

Security


A security guard, surveillance cameras, and a detection gate are used to monitor the flow of materials in and out of the library. You must always carry your valid SVA ID with you and show it to the security guard at the door. In addition, the Visual Arts Library reserves the right to examine any backpack, bag, portfolio, or other carrying device of anyone using the library. Any student found defacing, or attempting to steal, any library materials will risk the loss of library privileges and suspension from SVA.
