Faculty Updates: John Parks, Alicia Grullon, Pan Terzis

What have SVACE faculty members been up to? We have exciting updates from faculty members John A. Parks, Pan Terzis and Alicia Grullon!

John A. Parks opened “Putti,” a solo exhibition at 532 Gallery Thomas Jaeckel, on view until Dec 22, 2018. Taking on the subject of putti, the playful and occasionally mischievous babies that populate centuries of Western art history, Parks finds that they “reflect the complexities of human interaction in ways that can be both charming and frightening.” Beyond this new exhibition, Parks has recently been featured at Design Arts Daily, and he contributed an article on Jasper Johns for The Artists Magazine.

John A. Parks teaches Portrait Painting here at SVA Continuing Education.

Alicia Grullon scores a new residency as one of five inaugural residents of Shandaken: Governors Island! Ms. Grullon and four other New York–based cultural practitioners will work in free studio space on Governors Island for one year, pursuing individual goals and also developing new work to be presented during Governors Island’s 2019 public season. Alicia Grullon was also a 2017 Workspace Artist in Residence at the Center for Book Arts and recently participated in "White Anxieties," a group exhibition at WhiteBox that "takes the pulse of what haunts the conservative, American psyche."

Alicia Grullon teaches Radical Aesthetics of Art, a new course here at SVA Continuing Education.

Pan Terzis runs Mega Press, an "evolving publishing platform dedicated to showcasing dynamic and unique content that looks towards the tides of the future while marinating the detritus of the past in the turbulence of our present moment.” Mr. Terzis set up shop at the Chicago Art Book Fair and at Comic Arts Brooklyn. Find more of his new releases at Printed Matter!

Pan Terzis teaches RISO Printing here at SVACE, and is an SVA alumnus.
