Faculty Updates: Elise Engler, Keren Moscovitch, Peter Hristoff

What’s new with SVA Continuing Education faculty? How about exhibitions, interviews, films, and more? We have updates to share with you from Elise Engler, Keren Moscovitch, and Peter Hristoff.

Elise Engler debuted a new exhibition, Diary of a Radio Junkie: 1237 Days of Waking up to the News, now on view at Frosch & Portmann in New York City. Since 2015, Engler has drawn the headlines of each day’s news, then sharing the drawings on Instagram and Twitter. She "began to curate her choices, reflecting her perception of what was going on in the world,” says the gallery. The result is a multitude of drawings that tread between art and journalism, all the while telling the story of recent world history.

Keren Moscovitch earned a major honor at the Sydney World Film Festival. She won the jury award for Best Documentary Feature Film with the world premiere of her film, One More Way to Sink Into My Heart. Keren describes the film as "A dreamy documentary examining the imaginative and quixotic intimate life of a retired couple living in a rural American town, spanning role play, power games, and sexuality as a spiritual quest.

Keren writes, "After 6+ years of working on this very personal project, it was an amazing experience to see the film through the eyes of a brand new audience. The best parts were the conversations — people sharing with me their feelings and experiences of watching the film, how it impacted them, and what they learned from it. The film addresses intimacy and human relationships, so it is really important to me that a space of intimacy be opened up during each screening. Finding out that the film was selected for the official jury award of Best Documentary Feature was simply the icing on the cake.

And the film’s poster was designed by Viktor Koen, SVACE faculty member!

Keren is an alumnus of SVA MFA Photography, Video, and Related Media, an SVACE and BFA Photography and Video and Art History faculty member, and our Associate Director here at the Division of Continuing Education. Her dedication and vision have reached many of us in the SVA community, so we proudly cheer, "Congratulations, Keren!"

Peter Hristoff is featured in "Pulled in Brooklyn," a new exhibition at the International Print Center New York. According to IPCNY, "Works by more than 100 artists across twenty-six printshops and book arts workshops reveal a close-knit and generous community, supported by a collaborative spirit and a network of shared expertise.” For the show, Hristoff is exhibiting his striking and signature silhouette figure works.

“Pulled In Brooklyn” also included a printmaking workshop by Grayson Cox, an alum of our Summer Residency Programs.
