Jason Stopa curated A New Subjectivity: Figurative Painting After 2000, a group show now on view at Wesleyan University after traveling through Pratt Manhattan Gallery, The University of Arkansas, and The Reece Museum. Stopa selected paintings made by women, including Gina Beavers, Katherine Bradford, Katherine Bernhardt, Jackie Gendel, Liz Markus, and Rose Wylie. A New Subjectivity "attempts to categorize Expressionism in new terms. Referencing cartoons, fashion spreads, and personal narratives, the artists address the fragmentation of individual subjectivity in a technological world."
Steve Brodner and Felipe Galindo are both featured in The Nation Magazine's "Opp Art" feature, Artists Take Aim at Guns… AGAIN. Brodner and Galindo also share the spotlight with Edel Rodriguez, who designed our Fall 2017 subways posters and bulletin cover. Both Brodner and Galindo have built legacies of political cartooning and illustration, and Brodner was a featured speaker at our “Art & Activism” event.
Viktor Koen will speak at TEDxScarsdale, where he will premiere a new talk, "The Private Cell." According to Koen, the talk will cover "teens, cell phones, and the artistic process coming to our rescue." Given Koen's prolific output of photo collage illustration, we're excited to see the images he presents in his talk. See more from Viktor Koen at Attic Child, his Tumblr blog.
