STUDENTS SHARE THEIR ARTWORK AT SVACE
March 18, 2019
by Michael Bilsborough
Visit our ContinuEd Project Space, where we are pleased to present an exhibition of textile art by Defne Tutus, who is a recent SVACE student of Aimee Morgana. This show will be on view throughout March in our exhibition spaces located at 209 East 23rd Street and 380 2nd Ave, 8th floor.
Defne writes, ”Fiber Art + Fashion with Aimee Morgana really opened up a world of possibilities for me in fibers and colors. One of the first weeks of class with her, I expressed interest in weaving and she helped me to build a loom in the wood shop and got me started thinking about building a fabric from scratch, encouraging me to use the bright litter I might have once left in the trash can. Her guidance and mentorship have opened new neural pathways to seeing and conceiving color relationships, and in an abstract way about prioritizing social relations, creative process, continuity and imagining a future where each soul intensifies the brilliance of the ones that stand beside them."
