Country of origin: Germany

In which Residency Program(s) did you participate?
Painting and Mixed Media, 2010

What led you to participate in the Summer Residency Program?
I wanted an opportunity to make work and network in NYC and let myself be inspired by the city.

What was the best part of your experience at SVA?
Meeting my husband Eddie Villanueva - another Summer Residency alumnus. We got married in September of 2013.

How did the Residency Program contribute to your development as a professional artist, designer, etc?
The complete change of work environment allowed me to be more experimental and take risks, which eventually led to the development of a whole new body of work. This, in turn, helped me get the attention of a gallery in London that is now representing me.

What's going on in your studio now?
I have just finished installing a two-person show in Dallas and I am now preparing for a show in London, so my studio looks pretty much like a tornado ripped right through it! Half-finished works everywhere using ceramics, neon tubing, wood, cement, a pile of wires and micro-controllers. That's all I can say for now.
