From Teen Vogue: “David's mother died from a lifelong struggle with alcohol use. After leaving the hospital, David kept their favorite version of her alive by performing drag in the makeup and clothing she left behind.
From a young age, David would sneak into their mother's closet, looking for Christmas gifts and clothing to try on. She was a ‘closet drinker,’ and kept a stash of vodka amongst her piles of shoes.
