Teaching through Technology:
New Approaches to Designing the Learning Experience
This five-day intensive professional development workshop is designed to give experienced teachers a powerful set of tools with which to expand and deepen their teaching practice. The workshop will address how to integrate design strategy and digital fabrication into daily lessons. Held in the MFA Products of Design Department at the School of Visual Arts and its state-of-the-art Visible Futures Lab, topics will include rapid prototyping, physical computing and new approaches to hands-on learning. There will be opportunities to visit schools, cultural institutions, and fab labs where emerging technologies are making a difference in education. Participants will create a lesson library for use in their classroom, as well as a handbook with methodologies for generating future lessons.
