Application Requirements
WHAT'S NEXT?
Once you have received an offer of admission, you may find it helpful to refer to this overview of next steps to take you from the point of admission to eventual enrollment.

Note about Deferred Admission and Reapplication
Admission cannot be deferred to another academic year. Applicants who wish to delay enrollment must reapply to the program by submitting a new application and fee, and resubmitting all application materials.

Accepting an offer of admission

Submit a non-refundable enrollment fee of $1,000 to the Office of Graduate Admissions by the reply date noted on your acceptance letter. Enrollment fees will be processed as space remains available in your chosen department. Graduate Admissions will confirm receipt of submitted enrollment fees via email.

International Applicants
Submit a non-refundable enrollment fee of $1,000 to the Office of Graduate Admissions by the reply date noted on your acceptance letter. Enrollment fees will be processed as space remains available in your chosen department.

Please note that your Confidential Declaration and Certification of Finance (DOF) and Verification of Finances letter must be dated within one year of initial enrollment at SVA in order to receive I-20 paperwork.

Because of the time needed to issue and process the I-20 paperwork required for your student visa, we recommend you submit the enrollment fee by the reply date noted on your acceptance letter. Please note that the I-20 will not be issued until all financial documentation (DOF & VOF) has been submitted and deemed sufficient.

The International Student Office can be contacted at 212.592.2236 or iso@sva.edu.

Financial Aid
Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the U.S. Department of Education, making sure to list SVA's Title IV code - 007468 - on the form. If FAFSA data is currently on file at SVA, applicants should receive a financial aid award letter from SVA in 2 to 3 weeks. FAFSA forms can be submitted online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

The Office of Financial Aid can be contacted at 212.592.2030 or fa@sva.edu.

Please note that only citizens and permanent residents of the U.S. are eligible for need-based financial aid.

Housing
Submit an $800 housing deposit ($300 non-refundable placement fee and $500 security deposit) along with your enrollment fee to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Once you are placed in SVA housing, you will be sent a contract from the Office of Residence Life. Complete and return this contract to confirm your placement in SVA housing.

Room assignment and detailed check-in information will be mailed during the last week of July. More information will be provided on their website at: www.sva.edu/residencelife

If you have questions, please email the Office of Residence Life at reslife@sva.edu.

Registration
Submit the non-refundable enrollment fee to receive further information on the registration process. Submit the Student Health form to the Office of Student Health Services. This office can be contacted at 212.592.2246 or at health@sva.edu.

After the tuition billing deadline of August 1, you must contact the Office of Student Accounts to receive financial clearance before you will be able to register.

Current Undergraduate Students
Students who will be completing undergraduate studies during the 2008-09 academic year must confirm their degree by having an official, final transcript forwarded to the Office of Graduate Admissions prior to the start of classes.

Billing Information
Once you are registered and beginning in June, you will receive a bill for tuition and fees. Payment of this bill is due August 1, 2009.

To discuss payment plan options, please contact the Office of Student Accounts at 212.592.2415 or studentaccounts@sva.edu.

Orientation
Departmental orientation meetings will be held the week of August 31, 2009. Over the summer, you will receive orientation information from your department.

Please contact the Office of Graduate Admissions with questions during any stage of the enrollment process.
