Before and After SVA: Christina Faraj on Working at Pixar and More

As a part of our series exploring what recent graduates are up to, we caught up with Christina Faraj (BFA 2016 Computer Art, Computer Animation and Visual Effects), who talked about the connections she made at SVA, the inspiration that New York City provides, working at Pixar and more.

What have you been up to since graduation?

Since graduation I have moved to Emeryville, California, to start my new job at Pixar Animation Studios. Currently I am working on the sets for Incredibles 2, which will release summer of 2018. It has been an absolute dream come true.

Were you able to network through your SVA connections to help you get work?

Absolutely, all my jobs have been from networking at SVA. I have had job offers from teachers, alumni and studios visiting our school.

Was there a piece of advice a teacher gave you about the working world that was particularly helpful?

Everything is going to be okay if you do what you like and do it well.

What advice would you give to incoming students to get the best out of their SVA years?

Enjoy every minute. The school can completely change your life if you take advantage of everything it has to offer. And never forget where you are! New York City is booming with inspiration, go out and find it whenever you need to.
