School of Visual Arts and MPS Art Therapy present “Walk with Me,” curated by faculty member Liz DelliCarpini, ATR-BC, LCAT. The exhibition is on view Saturday, February 10, through Saturday, March 3, at the SVA Flatiron Gallery, 133/141 West 21st Street, New York City. Admission is free and open to the public.
Walk with Me is a collaboration between MPS Art Therapy students and the people that they work with at their internships sites. The artists invite family, friends, the SVA community and the general public to engage with them in restorative relational experiences. The therapeutic goals of this art installation are to find inspiration in our differences and to reveal the similarities between us that often slip by unnoticed. The restorative practice for the community is working together to shift expected modes of social influence and contribution.
The SVA Flatiron Gallery, located at 133/141 West 21st Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, is open Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 7:00pm, and Saturday, 10:00am to 6:00pm. It is fully accessible by wheelchair.
MPS Art Therapy at SVA equips students with a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach, integrating the experiential components of art therapy within a framework of academic theory and clinical application via an internship program and art practice. Fundamental to the program is the concept that the art therapist and client work together and thus can affect each other’s growth.
