School of Visual Arts and The Modern School of Film present Booker Prize-winning author Salman Rushdie discussing and screening clips from the films Pather Panchali (1955), Star Wars (1977) and The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014), all of which have influenced and inspired him.

Salman Rushdie is the author of twelve novels, including Midnight's Children (1981), Shame (1983) and The Satanic Verses (1988), as well as the memoir Joseph Anton (2012).  His most recent book is the novel Two Years Eight Months and Twenty-Eight Nights (2015).
