MA Curatorial Practice presents a panel discussion between Patrick Jagoda, David Joselit, Steven Henry Madoff and Stephanie Owens.

Network aesthetics describes an emerging constellation of studies concerned with the promises, problems and ethics of global connectedness. The panelists discuss their own work as researchers and producers in this expanding field that explores artistic production and what it means to live, work and communicate under the sign of algorithmic, networked life.

Patrick Jagoda is Associate Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature and the Department of Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Chicago. He is the author of Network Aesthetics (University of Chicago Press, 2016).

David Joselit is a Distinguished Professor of Art History at The Graduate Center, CUNY. He is an editor of October, and his most recent book is After Art (Princeton University Press, 2013).

Steven Henry Madoff is Chair of the MA Curatorial Practice program at SVA. His forthcoming book is titled The Power of the Unseparate: Network Aesthetics and the Rise of Interdisciplinary Art.

Stephanie Owens is an interdisciplinary artist, creative researcher and curator. As director of the Cornell Council for the Arts (CCA), she organized Cornell’s first art biennial and led its focus on intersections between art, design and nanoscience.
