Overview

In conjunction with the Global Game Jam, the MFA Design for Social Innovation Department presents the Games for Change Jam. Games for Change is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to catalyze social impact through digital games. If you have never made a game before, now is your chance. You can bring any of the usual skills required for a game: programming, art, sound, game design or an interest in gaming. Participants will form groups to produce a video as quickly as possible, within a 48 hour period. Games are based on a theme that is announced at the beginning of the weekend. The Global Game Jam is the world’s largest game jam event, with more than 200 game jams happening around the world during the same weekend. In 2012, the Global Game Jam became a Guinness World Record with 242 locations in 47 countries that resulted in the creation of over 2,000 games in one weekend.
