BFA Visual & Critical Studies and BFA Fine Arts present this exhibition of printmaking, curated by SVA faculty member Shannon Broder, who teaches in BFA Visual & Critical Studies, BFA Fine Arts and SVA Continuing Education.
Printmaking as a medium has been around for centuries; today there is a thriving community of modern day printers living right upstairs. It is is an incredibly versatile medium, attracting all kinds of artists, designers and makers. There is a magical quality to the process of printmaking; hand-mixing rich pigment and pushing it through a screen, or rolling it out with a brayer. Working directly with the inks creates a stunning vibrancy of line and color. This show is a celebration of the print medium, featuring works in a variety of techniques, from silkscreen to monoprint, etching and woodcut.
The artists are Rachel Burgess, Alejandro Chen Li, Alfonso De Anda, Chloe Giroux, Nashell Gonzalez, Melissa Guido, Genevieve Irwin, Boyoun Kim, Calla McInnes, Courtney Menard, Bayard Morse, David Sandlin, Sofia Sanfella, Bruce Waldman and Charles Yoder.
