School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents “SVAID Exhibition: Moe’s Cafe,” an exhibition featuring work completed by students in the BFA Interior Design Department in response to a challenge to re-envision popular campus eatery Moe’s Cafe as a multifunctional community space. Curated by faculty members Anthony Lee and Annie Coggan and the department student exhibition committee, the exhibition will be on view March 24 - April 7 at the Westside Gallery, 133/141 West 21st Street, New York City.
“SVAID Exhibition: Moe’s Cafe” is the result of a juried competition. All entries will be displayed including the submissions by first-place winner Jin Young Jun and second-place winner Alexandra Koretski. The “Viewer’s Choice” winner will be determined by a vote running until April 11 on the BFA Interior Design Department Facebook page.
Participants include Nirva Aydin, Amanda Bacha, Amanda Gardner, Dana Jeong, Jin Young Jun, Joowon Kim, Martin Kloeckner, Julia Komarczyk, Alexandra Koretski, Derek Sunghoon Lee, Yuying Lee, Elizabeth Lopez, Erin McDaniel, Darlene Miller, Shashank Mittal, Bennie Hyobeen Park, Heejoo Park, Sojin Park, Alexandra Seager, Brendan Stewart, Fjuki Tsai, Cherie Urrutia, Kristen Vincent, Vivien Wang and Sayaka Yoshida.
The BFA Interior Design Department at SVA prepares students to create environments with “wow” factor that also aim to change the world. Taught by award-winning designers, architects and artists, students learn to integrate the latest technology and materials with time-tested processes and principles of design. The faculty and curriculum are guided by a commitment to sustainability, the interplay between art and design, and the responsibility of design to address social issues.
