Bitponics has partnered with SVA’s Visible Futures Lab to prototype home food production systems that utilize bitponics technology for PSFK’s "The Future of Home Living" exhibition. Working with the Visual Futures Lab's advanced digital fabrication technologies and trained staff, the Bitponics team realized concepts for growing systems that function within the architecture of the home. This workshop will address the advantages of hydroponic growing as well as the process of designing and fabricating Bitponics prototypes.
Bitponics simplifies and automates the process of growing food at home by offering a web-based platform for monitoring home gardens as well as a customizable "Grow Plan" that contains a fully automated set of instructions for a whole season of plant care. The Bitponics team is comprised of Michael Doherty and Amit Kumar, Co-Founders of Bitponics, Abigail Cohen, a biochemist and sustainable development specialist, and Endrit Hajno, an industrial designer. They joined forces to develop small-scale hydroponics units, designed to make home gardening simple and easily achievable in urban spaces.
