MFA Fine Arts presents a talk by artist Azikiwe Mohammed.
Azikiwe Mohammed graduated from Bard College in 2005 where he studied photography and fine arts. Since then he has shown these things in galleries both nationally and internationally. In 2015 he received the Art Matters Grant and in 2016 he was the recipient of the Rema Hort Mann Emerging Artist Grant. He is part of the collections at the Studio Museum in Harlem and the MoMA.
Mohammed’s work has been featured extensively in the press, including VICE, I-D, Artforum, BOMB, Hyperallergic and Forbes. Mohammed has presented a number of solo exhibitions in venues including the Knockdown Center, Maspeth, New York; Long Gallery Harlem, New York, New York; Ace Hotel Chicago, Illinois; Mindy Solomon Gallery, Miami, Florida; SCAD Museum of Art, Savanah, Georgia; as well as multiple solo offerings at Spring Break Art Show, New York. He has participated in group exhibitions at MoMA PS1, Queens, New York; Antenna gallery, New Orleans, Louisiana; Charlie James Gallery, Los Angeles, California; The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Sheboygan, Wisconsin and the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, among others. He lives in New York and has his studio at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City.
