This weeklong celebration introduces the works of emerging filmmakers and animators from the School of Visual Arts.

Held each spring since 1990, the Dusty Film and Animation Festival culminates in a gala awards ceremony with celebrity presenters and industry professionals. This year, the Film, Video and Animation Department proudly presented the 20th annual Dusty Film and Animation Festival in the College’s new state-of-the-art SVA Theater, located in the heart of New York’s legendary Chelsea neighborhood.

Presenters have included such luminaries as Danny Aiello, Karen Allen, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Wes Craven, Robert Elswit, Randall Emmett, James Ivory, Harvey Keitel, Kevin Kline, David Koepp, Viveca Lindfors, Matthew Modine, Mira Nair, Richard Price, Bill Plympton, John Patrick Shanley, Tom Sito, Bryan Singer, Todd Solondz and Arthur Penn.

Film and animation students at SVA have received accolades and honors from such renowned institutions and organizations such as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences; Sundance Film Festival; International Animated Film Festival in Annecy, France; American Film Institute; Women in Film; National Board of Review and many others.

The School of Visual Arts is widely recognized as one of the finest art schools in the United States for its innovative curriculum, unparalleled faculty of more than 900 creative professionals and its participation in the larger arts community of New York City.
