Faculty Updates: Barbara Segal, Elise Engler, Shelley Haven

NEW ART EXHIBITIONS FROM SVA CONTINUING EDUCATION FACULTY

What have SVACE faculty members accomplished recently? We have exciting updates from faculty members Barbara Segal, Elise Engler, and Shelley Haven, who are exhibiting new work in New York and beyond.

Barbara Segal currently is featured in two galleries. At Krause Gallery in New York's Lower East Side, Segal is exhibiting "Cathedral Birkin," her sculpture in Carrara marble. And at Gallery Biba in Palm Beach, visitors will find her marble sculptures of luxury goods, including a Louis Vuitton handbag and a classic leather jacket.

Barbara Segal teaches Stone Carving on Saturdays.

Elise Engler will exhibit drawings in "Revised Realities,” a two-person exhibition with Isidoro Blasco at the at the Esther Massry Gallery at the College of Saint Rose in Albany. The show will feature Engler's drawings from The First Radio Headlines Heard of the Day Drawing Project, an ongoing project accurately described by its title, and A Year on Broadway. Elise Engler’s journalistic artwork often appeals to audiences across the Fine Arts and Illustration disciplines. You can learn more about her in our previous updates and our SVA ContinuEd publication.

Also, Hear Elise Engler in an interview on NPR's "All of It" with Alison Stewart on Friday, January 18th at 1:30 PM.

Elise Engler teaches Accordion Book Workshop and Visual Narratives: Many Ways to Tell a Story, both beginning soon!

Shelley Haven's solo exhibition, "The Architecture of Nature," opens this weekend at Wave Hill House in Riverdale, New York. Haven selected these works from her travels around Europe, the east coast, and our national parks, captured in her Travel Drawings and Boulders series. In her words: "these expressive, linear renderings of rock and cliff formations ... resonate with the grandeur and rugged texture of the Hudson River Palisades, visible from Wave Hill’s Pergola and elsewhere on the grounds.”

Shelley Haven teaches Pastels on Monday nights.
