The digital revolution has brought new possibilities for photographers, including a multitasking process that goes far beyond the creation and delivery of images. This course aims to create a conversation between conceptual ideas and practical applications. It will assist students with crafting their individual photographic identity and discovering their niche in the fields of fashion, advertising, commercial, journalistic and art photography. Each student will work on a personal photographic concept that will be created and refined throughout the semester. In addition, professional aspects of photography will be addressed through topics such as networking, social media, portfolio presentation, assignment hunting, client relationships, execution and delivery. Professionals from the industry such as photographers, art directors, art buyers and producers will visit the course to share their career experiences and their ideas on past, contemporary and future developments in the medium. Scheduled guests include Jean-Pierre Laffont, Richard Kern, Julian Alexander, Hollis King, Stacey Leigh and Vin Farrell. NOTE: Please bring samples of your work to the first session.
