The use of color as applied through digital media is the focus of this course. Digital coloring techniques offer artists access to an unlimited palette and an often-daunting array of techniques. This palette allows artists as much of a personal voice as can be created with a brush and canvas, and with more immediate control over the final product. We will explore a variety of approaches, including digital painting and brushes, creating and using textures and organic forms, coloring comic books and other drawing techniques. This course takes students beyond formulaic approaches, and demonstrates how digital color is used for experimentation and exploration. PREREQUISITE: A working knowledge of the Macintosh computer operating system. NOTE: It is recommended that students have access to a computer with Adobe Photoshop for home assignments. Lab time is included in the instructional hours; additional lab time is not available.
