Humanities and Sciences

SVA offers humanities and science courses to our student body of artists to complete their education by helping them think critically and gain a deeper understanding of their world. These skills are important to anyone, and especially important for artists, whose art can only improve by having a broader understanding of the historical and social context we live in.

Artists are best served by having a well-rounded education and learning more about the world they inhabit.

Whether you’re an artist or not, we have humanities and sciences courses available for undergraduate credit. Our Humanities and Sciences Department offers courses in topics including psychology, cultural criticism, history, sociology, literature, philosophy and science. Most courses offer three credits, with many offerings at night, allowing professionals the opportunity to attend classes after work.
