Dikko Faust Typographer; letterpress printermaker; founder, Purgatory Pie Press

Learn the basics of letterpress printing-a 600 year old, recyclable craft. This course will start with setting and printing metal and wood type by hand, and advance to making photopolymer plates from digital files created in the Printshop's digital facilities and plate-making darkroom. Students will also create patterns with ornaments and pieced borders, and make collage plates to print any color in the rainbow. How to register two or more colors, precisely, will be covered. Sessions begin with a demonstration followed by studio work on self-initiated projects that can range from type-based graphic design to fine art limited editions.
