Using new technologies in printing, such as photo-lithography and photo-polymer plates on the fine-art lithography press will be the focus of this course. We will explore the potential of printing large images for both flat and shallow relief processes in Photoshop and Illustrator. Students will work in a digital lab to create special negative and positive films with the latest technologies. We will then make plates from these films in order to handprint saturated color inks on handmade and oriental papers. The goal is to create a visual merging of traditional and digital technologies and to have tactile output for our computer musings.
