The rise of the documentary in the marketplace is evidenced by its increased presence in film festivals, theaters, broadcast outlets, and especially the Web. This documentary course is designed for students interested in enhancing their understanding of the documentary process and acquiring the production skills needed to get their films seen by a worldwide audience. Guest speakers will cover an array of web publishing ideas, like getting a hosting plan that matches your needs and publishing your files. The course will focus on the interview-driven and image-provoking scenes rather than on the journalistic and traditional producer/writer format. The course includes hands-on practical experience exploring interviewing and camera techniques, lighting and music selection for their projects. Students will complete a short five-minute documentary culminating in the launching of your film onto the Web.
