The computer has become an essential creative tool in illustration, graphic design, photography, multimedia, animation and fine art. In this course, students will learn how to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create art for print and the Web. A range of topics will be covered, including basic computer functions, scanning and design techniques. We will also discuss the similarities and differences of digital and traditional image-making. We will explore how the computer is used in professional studios, and how you can use it in your creative and professional pursuits. Students will participate in class critiques and workshop time. PREREQUISITE: SWC-1012, Macintosh Basics, or equivalent.
