Seth Tobocman Illustrator, comic book artist

Cartoons, illustrations and graphic narratives have been used to comment on the issues of the day for centuries. We will take lessons from the work of artists like Francisco Goya, Paul Revere, John Heartfield, Pablo Picasso, Jacob Lawrence, Emory Douglas, the French Situationists, Barbara Kruger, Norman Rockwell, Naji-Al-Ali, Sue Coe, Joe Sacco, Eric Drooker, Keith Haring, Frank Miller and Steve Ditko, and apply their artistic techniques and communication strategies to our contemporary situation. Students will write and draw their own comic strips. If you believe that through your art you can change the world, take this class and sharpen your sword!
