Applicants who have completed a BFA or a BA in studio art at a regionally accredited institution of higher education may apply for nonmatriculated, special-student status. Upon acceptance, special students will meet with the chair of their department to identify a specific course of non-matriculated study. Note: Special students may be restricted from enrollment in specific departments and/or concentrations. Special students are not eligible for financial aid and are required to pay the same full-time tuition and fees as matriculated students in the same department at the same academic level and must comply with all regulations and policies of the College.

International Exchange Program

Students currently enrolled at one of SVA's exchange partner institutions can apply to spend one semester as an exchange student at SVA. Candidates must be nominated by their home institution, and should contact the international exchange coordinator at their school for information on how to be nominated as an exchange candidate. AICAD Mobility Program

SVA does not participate in the mobility program offered by other member institutions of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art & Design (AICAD). Students currently enrolled at an AICAD college who would like to spend a semester at SVA must apply for admission as a transfer student (apply). Upon admission, these students will be enrolled as matriculating students and will be required to pay the same full-time tuition and fees to SVA as all matriculating students enrolled in the same department. As such, applicants should work closely with their home institution to insure that their absence and subsequent return will proceed without problem.

Visiting Students

Students currently enrolled at a regionally accredited college or university or diploma program at a four-year art school who would like to spend a semester at SVA must apply for admission as a transfer student (apply). Upon admission, students will be enrolled as matriculating students and will be required to pay the same full-time tuition and fees to SVA as all matriculating students enrolled in the same department. As such, applicants should work closely with their home institution to insure that their absence and subsequent return will proceed without problem.
