This program gives art therapy professionals the opportunity to enhance their therapeutic skills by exploring unique studio techniques designed to be adapted to diverse groups. This serious program seeks to integrate culture, art history and studio artwork into the art therapy process. The landscapes of Provence encourage creativity and complement the open classroom teaching environment.
Avignon, a medieval walled city, will be the home for this program, which aims to enhance each art therapist's skills with unique studio techniques that can be adapted to various populations. The magnificent landscape, light and history of Provence will inspire the art-making process and complement instruction. Each day will include a clinical site visit, such as St. Remy, or a village tour followed by an afternoon studio workshop. A found object workshop will end the week and participants will bring together their personal observations and memorabilia to create an art project inspired by their Provence experiences.
