Discovering Florence with a camera promises to be an inspiring experience for any photographer. The light alone in this remarkable city and in the Tuscan towns and villages that surround it can’t be duplicated anywhere else. This intensive digital photography course emphasizes creative image making. Encouraged to find subject matter that is personal, participants can hope to create a cohesive body of
work in a short period of time. Equipment, shooting and camera techniques will be covered There will be daily one-on-one reviews and weekly class critiques in a classroom located in Florence’s city center. Attendance is required but the evenings and weekends belong to you and there’s much to see—magnificent art and architecture, museums and churches, excursions to Siena, Chianti, Rome or Venice, or simply walking the city or shopping the remarkable flea markets and shops. Whether you join us for two or three weeks, you’ll see Italy in a way no tourist can. As an artist with a camera exploring Italy will be a summer of discovery in the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.

Prerequisite: Two semesters of basic photography and a proficiency in Adobe Photoshop are required. Students must supply their own laptop with Adobe Photoshop installed and a digital camera (5 megapixels or higher) as well as storage media to transfer files and all necessary equipment to download images from camera to laptop.

Note: A portfolio of at least 12 digital images of recent work must be submitted, along with a completed application form. Acceptance into this program is based on portfolio review.
