The science and art of art therapy is artistically and intellectually demanding and its practitioners seldom have an opportunity to renew their own personal and artistic resources so essential to helping others. This program, set in sunny, stylish Florence, filled with beautiful art and architecture, is the perfect place to immerse yourself in a two-week studio experience. The Italian art therapy community is a sophisticated group and your chance to interact with them is a rare opportunity. One day of the program will be devoted to Paola Luzzatto’s Power of Silence open studio workshop, where you will experience how silence and words are used in one-on-one sessions as well as in group art therapy. Students in the current MPS Therapy program, SVA art therapy alumni, art therapy students from other institutions and practicing art therapists are welcome in this program.

This two-week immersion program is your chance to deepen your understanding of the challenges of this work through an art medium of your choice as well as using writing and journaling to discover the best expression of your art to be used in the therapeutic process.
