The School of Visual Arts has designed a very special workshop based in the Provence region of southern France. Participants will investigate and photograph the historic city of Arles, its breathtaking landscapes, the towns and villages that surround this centuries-old center of arts and culture.

This workshop for serious photographers and advanced students of photography will include career-networking opportunities among the international photographic community at Europe's premier international photography festival: Les Rencontres d’Arles.

World-class fine-art photographer Elinor Carucci will guide, discuss, and enrich your experience with on-site critiques throughout the festival exhibitions. The photography festival, now in its 41st year, hosts gallery exhibitions and receptions for exhibiting photographers, dealers and international agents who come each year to rediscover their passion and interact with new talent.

Local guides will show you the lesser known, seldom documented places and views while providing on-site historical background of the rich artistic heritage that is Provence. These field trips offer incomparable opportunities for location shooting of the landscapes, marketplaces, ancient architecture, and unique culture of southern France.

Join us for this extraordinary opportunity to hone your practice, learn from the masters, and experience the unique charms of Provence.

Note: An interview (in-person or via telephone) is required for acceptance to this program.
