My favorite class at SVA was…
It is very difficult for me to pick a favorite class. My courses were very diverse, and I really enjoyed the wide variety. I learned something crucial from each class, and all that knowledge put together really helped me grow as an artist.
One of my favorite teachers was Chris Buzelli because Chris was one teacher that helped me take my work to a professional level. With his guidance, I was really able to tailor my visual point of view. I made very successful work in his class.
One of my most interesting assignments was the ‘Junior Thesis’ project. The project lasted the whole year, and there were many trials and tribulations. But, in the end, I produced a series of work, which was shown in a gallery, and is something I am very proud of. It was definitely a valuable learning experience and it was the beginning of a new direction in my work.
What’s the best thing about attending college in New York City?
NYC has everything. There is art to look at everywhere throughout the city. I have also had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world at SVA. NYC is a very inspiring environment to attend school.
Did you make any connections at SVA that helped you with your career? Please describe.
I've made many career-based connections at SVA. In addition to all of my awesome instructors, I had the opportunity to meet many additional artists and other professionals in my field.
Describe a funny moment that might be said to be an “Only at SVA” or “Only in NYC” moment.
Students would always draw each other during class. I would sometimes notice someone was drawing my ear or something, so I would just stay just perfectly still. If you were to look through a student's notes, there were always recognizable sketches of fellow students’ faces.
