The School of Visual Arts has been a leader in the education of artists, designers, and creative professionals for more than six decades. With a faculty of distinguished working professionals, dynamic curriculum, and an emphasis on critical thinking, SVA is a catalyst for innovation and social responsibility. Comprised of more than 6,000 students at its Manhattan campus and 35,000 alumni in 100 countries, SVA also represents one of the most influential artistic communities in the world.
Our alumni work in advertising agencies, television stations, publishing houses, film studios, recording companies, design firms, art galleries and major museums. They have won CLIOs, Emmys, Cannes lions, countless film festivals, design awards, NEA and Fulbright Fellowships, to name a few. Still others extend SVA's tradition of educating artists by becoming teachers themselves.
The Office of Alumni Affairs is dedicated to advancing the cultural and educational best interests of its members. Through programs, publications, special events and promotions, the office maintains an active relationship with the alumni and encourages them to support the College's mission to educate future generations of artists, designers, and creative professionals. All degree graduates of SVA are considered alumni.
The School of Visual Arts also supports The Alumni Society of the School of Visual Arts, Inc. It is an independent non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, which exists to service the needs of SVA students and alumni. The Alumni Society hosts programs and events, which connect SVA's alumni with one another and the College.
