FREELANCING BASICS

This workshop will provide an overview of the crucial elements of successful freelancing. Get a jumpstart on your first big freelance gig and learn how to define your services, negotiate fees and payment schedules, use your online portfolio to get the work you want, as well as gain tips for marketing and managing your business. The workshop will provide resources and general information relevant to all majors.

ALUMNI CAREER FORUM: EARN HIGHER RATES AS A CREATIVE OR FREELANCER

This forum examines various techniques to increase your rates and creative ways to list add-ons to your services to boost your income as a freelancer or small business owner. The format is a brief presentation by counselors followed by discussion and Q&A. Come to share questions and advice with your fellow alumni.

The overall purpose of the forum is to offer ongoing career support to alumni who may be seeking employment, building a freelance or studio practice, transitioning into a new career, exploring entrepreneurship and more.

UNDERSTANDING THE VALUE OF YOUR WORK WITHIN MULTIPLE MARKETS: A SEMINAR FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS WITH MARY VIRGINIA SWANSON

One of the most exciting recent developments for photographers is the growth of new markets for their work.  Whether a fine print is shown in a museum or in a corporate office, reproduced as book cover illustration, or featured within product advertising, the value of that photograph is different for each buyer. In this seminar, Mary Virginia Swanson will provide an overview of the value of your work within today's diverse photography marketplace.
